Getting to Hawaii * Hotels & Other Accommodations * Transportation in Hawaii * Tourist Information

The best way to get to Hawaii is by air. To get to our wedding on Oahu, you will need to fly into Honolulu International Airport (HNL). Honolulu is on the island of Oahu, the largest city in Hawaii, and the state capital. Our wedding venue is located approximately 10 miles away from Honolulu.

If you would like to fly into another airport in Hawaii, please keep in mind that other airports are on different islands, and the easiest and most popular way to get from island to island is by air. You will need to book another flight to get to Oahu.

Please let us know your itinerary when you make your reservations and if you have used any of the discounts below.

Hawaiian Airlines Discount
We are enrolled in Hawaiian Airlines' Wedding Wings Program, which provides our guests with an additional 10% discount off lowest available roundtrip fares. The Wedding Wings discount is valid for travel between 4/1/2006 - 4/22/2006 for travel to Honolulu, Hawaii. Discount does not apply to Interisland-only, International or codeshare fares and is not combineable with any other discount or offer. Please note that lower fares may be available via other channels.

To book your reservations please visit Hawaiian Airlines' Wedding Wings website. The star file # is WED238. This star file # along with our last names (Pham/Kittle) will be needed to log in to your site and should be referenced whenever communicating with Hawaiian Airlines about your registration.

American Airlines Discount
American Airlines is offering a 5% discount to our wedding guests. This discount is valid from April 1 to April 15, 2006, for travel to Honolulu, Hawaii. Call American Airlines at 1-800-433-1790 from anywhere in the United States or Canada and refer to STARfile authorization number 6646AN.

There will also be a separate ticketing charge of $8.00 USD for tickets purchased via the phone or $15.00 USD for tickets purchased at the airport. This amount is subject to change. At this time there is no ticketing fee for reservations made and ticketed on www.AA.com. To use the discount online, please use the fare promotion code A6646AN.

Hotel room vacancies in Waikiki are at an all-time low. Many hotels are undergoing renovation or conversion to condominiums or, the newest rage, condotels. We suggest booking early to get the best rates. Cheaper hotel rooms may be found on travel websites; however, please be aware that in Waikiki, you pretty much get what you pay for.

Aqua Resorts
We have secured a special group rate for our wedding guests with the Aqua Resort Group. We recommend for our guests to stay at the Aqua Palms because of its incredible value at group rate (over 50% the rack rate) and its high quality furnishings. Aqua Palms is newly renovated and opened its doors January 2005. While we won't vouch for the other Aqua hotels, Aqua is offering to extend us group rates for any of the Aqua hotels.

Views of Aqua Palms from the Aqua Resorts Website

All guests will receive a coupon book for Waikiki restaurants and a complimentary daily newspaper. You also have the option of upgrading to their romance or spa package if you wish. Aqua also has a special rental car rate of $25/day for our wedding guests through Thrifty Rental. If you do rent a car, please be sure to ask your hotel about parking rates and if you need to make a reservation for parking. There is street parking available, but parking is mostly metered and sometimes hard to attain in Waikiki.

The rates (not including taxes and mandatory porterage fee) for studios are as follows:
Aqua Palms $100/night
Aqua Bamboo & Spa $95/night
Aqua Aloha Surf $90/night
Aqua Marina Hotel $85/night
Aqua Kuhio Village $80/night
These hotels also have larger rooms available for anyone who is interested.

You may call the central reservations numberat 866-406-AQUA (2782)(leave a message and they will call you back) to make your reservation or email reservations@aquaresorts.com. They do require one night deposit to secure the rates (fully refundable up to a week before). We have a number of rooms blocked in all the hotels from April 5-9, 2006, but they will honor the rate for any length of time so long as they have vacancies.

Aqua Reservations will need the following information from you:
* That you are part of the "Tina Pham & Joel Kittle Wedding" group
* What hotel you wish to book
* Name(s) you want on the reservation
* Mailing Address
* Phone
* 1-night deposit (can be placed on a credit card)
* Email address you would like the confirmation sent

Roommates?
If you need help finding someone to share a hotel room with, please e-mail us.

Vacation Rentals
An alternative to hotels are vacation rentals, which usually have a minimum of a one week stay. If you are interested, please feel free to contact Tina for information on neighborhoods on Oahu.

From the Airport
By shuttle. There is an official shuttle from the Honolulu International Airport to Waikiki hotels for $8 per person, which includes 2 pieces of luggage per person. Follow the signs outside from baggage claim.

By public transportation. Take Bus #19 or #20 to Waikiki ($2 per person, call for baggage allowances). If you are staying at the Aqua Palms, ask the bus driver to let you know when you get to the stop for the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The Aqua Palms is across the street. If you are staying at the Outrigger Waikiki, please ask the bus driver to let you know when you get to the stop closest to Kaiulani Street. Once you get off the bus, you will need to walk a couple blocks towards the ocean to the Outrigger Waikiki. You may want to bring a map of Waikiki (available at tourist information kiosks at the airport) in case the bus driver forgets to tell you your stop.

By car. If you rent a car, be sure to get directions from both your hotel and the car rental agency. They may give you different directions. General directions to Waikiki are as follows - take the H-1 East (towards Waikiki), exit Punahou Street, turn right at the end of the exit onto Punahou Street. Stay in the second righthand most lane. Take a right from this lane onto Beretania Street. Take an almost immediate left onto Kalakaua Avenue. Follow this street into Waikiki.

For more information, please see the Honolulu Airport's Ground Tranportation Information page.

Public Transportation
The Bus is the local public transportation system on Oahu and will get you to most city attractions you are interested in. On The Bus' website you will find ways to get to popular tourist attractions.

Shuttle to the Wedding
If there is overwhelming interest, we can arrange a roundtrip shuttle for our wedding guests from Waikiki to the wedding location for a nominal cost (around $15). Please e-mail us if interested.

Car Rentals
Discount rate with Aqua Resorts. If you are booking a room with Aqua Resorts, they can also reserve a car for pickup either in Waikiki or at the airport. Compact rate through Aqua Resorts is $25/day. Please inquire about this when you make your hotel reservation.

Budget Car Rental Discount. To receive a discount off Budget rental cars, please reference BCD# U077909. Budget to date seems like the cheapest rates for car rentals.

Avis Discount. To receive the discount off Avis rental cars, please reference AWD - D003737.

Driving Tips
For those interested in renting cars in Hawaii, please remember that it is a slower island pace. Speed limits on freeways are typically around 50 MPH, with speeds on the Pali Highway and the Likelike Highway between 35 and 45 MPH. If you get lost while driving in Hawaii, please do not refer to numbers and instead reference the name of the highway. With the exception of the H-1, H-2, and H-3 freeways, all highways are referred to by name and not by number.

Information on Hawaii

The Hawaiian Islands consists of eight major islands. Hawaii, while the largest island and the state's namesake, is not the main island in the island chain. The main island, home to most of Hawaii's population and many of Hawaii's famous sights, including the capital city of Honolulu, the neighborhood of Waikiki, Diamond Head, and the North Shore, is the island of Oahu.

Hawaii is the 50th state of the United States, and therefore you will not need a passport to enter the state, nor will you need to change money. However, there are some restrictions of which you should be aware. Due to Hawaii's unique and fragile ecosystem, please do not bring fresh fruit, vegetables, or plants with you off the airplane. It is illegal to bring them into Hawaii without proper clearances. Live animals are subject to a 4 month quarantine, so please leave pets at home.
