Tina is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Political Economy and Public Policy at the University of Southern California. She is currently working on her dissertation and freelances in web development. Joel is a 3D artist, currently employed as a 3D modeler at Disney Feature Animation.

Tina and Joel met in December 2001 at McMurphy's Tavern in Old Town Pasadena, California. Joel's friend, Carl, was standing in the corner by the jukebox looking lonely, and Tina, thinking that he was alone, went to engage him in conversation. Carl wasn't alone, and he introduced Tina to his two friends choosing songs at the jukebox! They put on "Dancing Queen" as a selection for Tina, and Joel and Tina spent the rest of the night talking. Joel was shy and didn't want to call Tina, but Carl convinced him to a couple days later! One could say the relationship had a lot to do with Carl!

Over their 4-year courtship, they have shared in adventures throughout Europe, handled their disparate tastes in music (whoever thought the Bangles and Radiohead could lead a peaceful existence?), and while they disagree on whether Saturday or Sunday football is better, they have fostered a love for arena football. Through it all, Tina and Joel are committed to their love for one another.

Joel came home one day and surprised Tina with 100 roses. Tina was examining the roses, and when she looked back up, Joel was down on one knee with a beautiful ring in hand. He asked, "Will you marry me?" She answered, "Yes, of course!" Afterwards, they enjoyed a quiet dinner together at their favorite sushi restaurant in Old Town Pasadena.
